About Fukuya House

Fukuya is written in Japanese hiragana as 「ふくや」.

“Fuku” (ふく) is written with the kanji 「福」, representing happiness, good fortune, and blessings. To us, it stands for both the joy of travel and the warm comfort of feeling right at home.

We believe travel is defined not just by famous landmarks, but by the memories and feelings made along the way. Our goal is simple: after a full day of exploring Tokyo and Chiba, we want every guest to step into Fukuya House, feel instant warmth, and leave with a heart full of happiness.

Authentic 1970s Showa-Era Living in Funabashi, Chiba

Located in Maruyama, Funabashi City (Chiba Prefecture), Fukuya House was originally built in the 1970s—the golden age of Japan’s Showa era.

While 100-year-old traditional Kominka are classic, they often lack modern amenities. On the other hand, 50-year-old Showa-style homes are frequently demolished, despite representing the exact era when modern Japanese pop culture and everyday お茶の間 (living room) family culture were born.

Instead of tearing it down, we chose to carefully preserve and renovate this historic property, creating an authentic Japanese residential culture experience for international travelers.

Retro Nostalgia Meets Top-Tier Modern Comfort

Step into a classic Japanese anime setting! Designed with a touch of nostalgic charm, Fukuya House feels like walking directly into the home of your favorite childhood manga protagonist.

We have perfectly balanced classic Showa aesthetics with modern luxury and safety:

  • Structural Safety: Fully reinforced to meet current Japanese seismic standards.
  • Modern Amenities: Completely upgraded bathrooms, washrooms, and high-spec soundproof windows.
  • Spacious Layout: A 90+ sq. m, 4LDK standalone vacation rental (民泊) featuring a private 150-inch home theater, fully equipped open kitchen, and a Showa-themed traditional room.

Whether you are looking for a unique family-friendly holiday home near Tokyo or an authentic Japanese lifestyle accommodation, Fukuya House offers a safe, spotless, and unforgettable home base for your trip to Japan.
